Mrs. Carter's Skillet Apple Pie

1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 c. (1 stick) salted butter, plus 1 tablespoon melted for crust
2 refrigerated rolled pie crusts
1 (21-ounce) can apple pie filling
2 tbsp. cinnamon sugar
Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Preheat the oven to 400° F. Melt the brown sugar and 1/2 cup of butter in a 9-inch oven safe skillet over medium heat. Remove the pan from the heat, and cover with one pie crust. Pour the apple pie filling on top of the crust, sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon sugar and cover with the second crust. Brush with the 1 tablespoon of melted butter and sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar. Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve hot, topped with a generous dollop of vanilla ice cream.

  • I made this Skillet Apple Pie for my family for Memorial Day. Very easy to do. My family really enjoyed the Apple Pie.

  • My Husband Loves It!

  • I have made this pie for my husband and myself--3 times! Twice, I made it with apples, and tonite, I tried it with Cherries! It was Delicious! So easy to make, but such a wonderful flavor. Love this pie!
