Pear & Apple Streusel Pie

 

3 c. thinly sliced peeled apples
3 c. thinly sliced peeled pears
3/4 c. brown sugar, divided
2 Tbsp. tapioca
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. margarine
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Refrigerated pie crust

Preheat oven to 400° F. Mix apples and pears with 1/2 cup of the brown sugar, tapioca and cinnamon in large bowl. Let stand 15 minutes. Mix flour and remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar in medium bowl. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in walnuts; set aside. Prepare pie crust in 9-inch pie plate as directed on package. Fill with fruit mixture; top with crumb mixture. Bake 45 to 50 minutes.

  • I found this recipe in a magazine a few years ago....made it on a couple occasions....potlucks...it was a hit!! Scrumpdilicous!!

  • I just happen to have some ripe pears on our tree and so thought I would try it. I didn't have any apples so just used all pears. So gooood. Can serve with ice cream or Kool-whip.
