Baked Macaroni and Cheese

1 lb. Macaroni (about 4 cups of elbow macaroni)
2 8-oz. packages of Sharp Cheddar Cheese chunk
2 c. milk
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. butter
Salt & Pepper to taste

Boil the macaroni in a large pot until tender. Shred your cheese and set aside. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and mix until turning a brown amber color. Add the milk and whisk until thick. Add the cheese, one handful at a time. Mix until the cheese is all melted and smooth. Place the cooked macaroni in a baking pan. Pour the cheese mixture over the macaroni. Bake for 30 minutes in a 350° oven. Salt and pepper to taste.

  • Needed a little tweeking

  • I baked this for my family recently. I had to add an additional 1/4 stick of butter to the sauce mixture so it would blend with the flour. I checked it half way through the baking time and the cheese sauce was still sitting on top, so I added 1/2 cup milk and a bit more butter. It was tasty made a 9x12 pan full.
