My son is very difficult to buy for, he wants for very little and has very discerning tastes. I saw this and thought, it just might make a good gift for him. It combines his two loves: Money and Technology! I was a little bit worried however, because he is very picky about quality, he'd rather do without than make do with sub-par. Happily, I was not disappointed! I gave this to him for his birthday, and it pleased him to no end. There are models of detectors out there that are more advanced, but for someone just starting out in detecting, this model is quite good. The read outs are easy understand, the audio alerts are distinct and the volume control is great. The filters and discernments work wonders. Good choice.
