"Cookie" Ornaments

Let little ones showcase their creativity with this simple holiday craft.

2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water

Blend together and knead until the dough is smooth. Roll out the dough on baking paper and use holiday cookie cutters to form shapes. Use a straw to make a hanging hole at the top of each ornament.

Bake at 325° F for 1 1/2 hours or until dry. Cool and decorate using traditional cookie decorations, beads, paints, ribbons, whatever your imagination desires.

My Aunt Joyce was very creative and I always coveted her homemade gifts she gave Mom. Both have passed away now but (until now)I have been unable to find the cookie recipe. I plan to carry on my sweet aunt's tradition with my grandchildren. My 12' tree in the family room is decorated with only cookie ornaments and it adds such country charm.
