Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful curtains! I did not purchase these curtains for windows (well mostly). I'm using them as "under counter" curtains in my craft cave. I am a gingham check junkie, especially black & white. My theme accents are Mary Engelbreit so when I saw these, it was one of those "gotta haves". They are pricy but the quality of the fabric is excellent. They are not 2 sided so if you buy them for windows, they are not gingham check on the backside. I would consider them opaque as far as privacy. I did not even have to press them before hanging but a quick press is not a bad idea. The valances fit perfectly in the 2 windows (basement windows) that I'm using for my craft cave. Their purpose is to hide additional craft storage under the counters. I am a DIY'er w/my craft space & I am making do with furniture & storage that I already have. HOWEVER, when it came to the curtains, I hit a snag. Not enough fabric..... I swallowed my pride when I decided to shoot for ready-mades instead of sewing my own. By the time I would've bought enough gingham check, & do all the cutting, hemming, & sewing, I would have spent about half this much anyway. I figure my time is worth the other half :). It was a timesaver to just zip a seam across the top & hang them on café rods under the counters. I had been pricing 1" gingham and it's really quite hard to find black in my area - especially the yardage I needed. The white is a soft white not a bright white. Only CON is that the rod pocket hems are crooked. But that's OK because I had to hem them for my project anyway. If you purchase, be aware of that. I still recommend them even if they are more $$ than I wanted to spend. They are gorgeous and I love them. I'm not done with the space yet but I just smile when I enter my craft cave now. They bring me JOY!!! Thank you Country Door!!!! I am a quite a ways from organizing the space BUT I am in love with these curtains.
