Back-to-School Front Door Decorating [Video]

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

The weekend’s almost here. I’m Robin with Front Door Friday. It’s back to school time for teachers and students. Let’s celebrate with a quick and affordable front door update.

A chalkboard stand makes a fantastic prop. You’ll get a lot of mileage out of it redecorating for the seasons. Whenever possible, I love to put a chair on the front porch. The more rustic the better. It makes a house look more welcoming and inviting.

An apple wreath seems appropriate for school. It also matches the bushel basket of apples I used on the steps. Paint oversized letters and numbers to match your color scheme. I’m going to use traditional primary colors.

Glue letters to a wide burlap ribbon. Attach a small slate to the ribbon. Use a Command hook to hang. Scatter large numbers around the porch for a pop of color. You can find very affordable mats online and in stores. It’s a finishing touch that makes a big difference. It looks great but I feel there’s something missing.

Well, Lauren, what do you think? Does the door measure up? I give it an A-plus.

Thanks. That’s it for this week’s Front Door Friday. I encourage you to step out and try some front door decorating this weekend. To learn more, check out the Country Door blog and I’ll see you next Friday. Happy decorating and God bless.
