VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

The weekendā€™s almost here. Iā€™m Robin with Front Door Friday. Itā€™s graduation season. Are you celebrating? Letā€™s create unique front door decorations to honor the graduate in your life.

Go ahead and brag about the graduate in your life. With front door decorating, the whole world can see.

[Erin] So, how are you making this special for Connor?

[Robin] Well, Connor is going to do an electrical apprenticeship. So, I want to base it on that. So, first, with the cap, I took electrical wire and formed it in the word ā€œcongratsā€ and I zip tied and hot glued it onto the cap. Then I took a generic diploma and I put ā€œYour future is brightā€obviously, since weā€™re talking about electricity.

I did find this fun light that actually works and itā€™s plastic so itā€™s safe. And I added some switches, some electrical wire in the shape of a heart. And voila, there we go.

[Erin] So, let me guess, a teacher?

[Robin] You guessed it. My sister, Marney, has been homeschooling her daughter but then got into some classical conversation and she is going wild with teaching that class. So this, I dedicated it to her, my sister, Marney. But again, I did the same concept. I took crayons and wrote ā€œCongratsā€ on the hat and then added all the different things that, to me, meant teacher.

We have some flashcards, an apple, of course, a ruler, pink eraser, pencil. Again, you just go with the theme, whatever it happens to be, for your graduate. Graduation is an accomplishment. Be proud and decorate to celebrate.

Thatā€™s it for this weekā€™s Front Door Friday. I encourage you to step out and try some front door decorating this weekend. To learn more, check out the Country Door blog. And Iā€™ll see you next Friday. Happy decorating and God bless.

Do you use the actual cap & gown? Or do you make one? How do you prevent damage?

Hello Maria,

We did not use the graduates actual cap and gown. In order to secure the decorations we used hot glue, zip ties, and safety pins. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

My daughter is a high school senior. She will be going to Baylor in the fall and studying nursing. We are all really bummed out about the quarantining and not being able to spend the last few weeks with her friends at school and possibly missing graduation. I love the front door idea. Could you please give me some ideas of how to do a front door for her at our house relating to nursing?

Hello April!
We’re glad you love this front door idea. To decorate your front door for your daughter, you could create a similar hanger like Robin created, but add items that are related to nursing such as a thermometer, stethoscope, rubber gloves, etc. You could even use a scrub shirt as the main piece, instead of a cap and gown.
Please share a photo with us – We’d love to see what you create!
