How to Paint Your Front Door [Video]

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

The weekend’s almost here. I’m Robin with Front Door Friday. Today, we’re painting.

You don’t need any professional help, and all the products you need can be found at your local hardware store. Buy a high-quality exterior paint. Look for satin or semi-gloss finish because it’s easier to clean. When you choose a color, look at all the colors outside of your house, even flowers and landscaping.

There’s more than one color that matches your house. Choose a color you love that matches your personality. To prep the door, I’m washing it down with TSP. It’s a phosphate-free cleaner made for paint prep. Then wipe down with clear water.

Use a sanding sponge to rough up the surface and even out imperfections. And finally, use a tack cloth to remove any dust or debris from the sanding. And now it’s time to paint. This door is done and ready to face the world. Treat your painted door gently for two weeks until it’s cured.

And I’ll see you next Friday. Happy decorating and God bless.
