The weekend’s almost here. I’m Robin with Front Door Friday. Have you ever decorated for a rainy day? April showers bring May flowers. So, grab your umbrella, rain boots, and imagination. This front door makeover’s going to be fun.

How’s this for a rainy day project? It’s sunshine for a stormy day. To make this mat, you’ll need a garden hose and long zip ties. This is a great way to recycle an old hose. I’ve chosen black zip ties to contrast with the green hose. Coil the hose and secure with zip ties. Then cut off the ends. Alternate the ties for a fun pattern. This project has lots of possibilities. Try a black hose with bright yellow or pink zip ties. And of course, your mat is waterproof. Just hose it off to clean it.

This watering can arrangement is a fun twist. Secure light blue tulle to flow out of the spout. Hot glue faux flowers down the tulle and add fairy lights. Hang it on a post or beside the door as a focal point.

Whenever possible, I like to use unique things for door decorations. An umbrella is perfect. Fill a hook handled umbrella with faux flowers and tie with a ribbon. That’s all it takes. This makes a great gift as well.

That’s it for this week’s Front Door Friday. I encourage you to step out and try some front door decorating this weekend. To learn more, check out the Country Door blog and I’ll see you next Friday. Happy decorating and God bless.

I love the ideas, especially the watering can. I have an oval shaped window in my front door. Anybody have any ideas how I can add a bit of color to the door? My door is cream color and my house is gray siding with white brick bottom. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi Marge, Adding color to a front door can be a fun way to change it up for holidays and seasons. Check out our Mother’s Day video that features a colorful DIY you can adapt for any occasion using a large paper mache or wood letter. Cover it with paint and faux flowers for a quick and easy door hanger. If you are wanting to decorate your window, there are fun decals and window film. Check out our video on applying privacy film to windows. Other ideas: paint the window trim and door frame, change your doorknob, add a decorative door knocker, use a stencil to add a pop of color without painting the entire door, hang a basket and add seasonal flowers. We hope this helps. Post a picture of your project!

Robin — love how you made spring arrive at your front door in spite of all the snowflakes blowing by! Can’t wait to get some flowers — but here in the mountains, it’s still a little too early. Thanks for your great inspiration each week!
