Celebrate National Friendship Day

Honor Your Friendships With Quotes About Friends

The first Sunday in August marks National Friendship Day in the United States; this year it falls on August 7. This is a day when you are invited to “observe this day in an appropriate manner, in accordance with the culture and other appropriate circumstances or customs of their local, national and regional communities, including through education and public awareness-raising activities.” This “holiday” was originally founded by Hallmark in 1930 as a day for people to celebrate their friendships and to, of course, send each other cards. The United States then established the holiday in 1935.

Use this day to reach out to your friends, share memories and tell them how you appreciate them. Quotes are a wonderful way to sum up your feelings with words that are not usually part of your everyday vocabulary. When you want to add a special sentiment to your thoughts, let a quote speak on your behalf. Try searching for quotes online to find one that says just the right thing for each of your friends. The more personal you make it, the more meaningful it will be for the recipient.

My best friend was my late husband Jimmy. He saw my faults for 42 yrs 8 months 1 day And loved me more than anything in the world. He never judged me. He always encouraged me. He never made fun of me. And made me laugh When all I wanted to do was cry. I miss him more than there are words to express my loneliness.
